Not too much has changed for Fujiya & Miyagi with their fourth album, Ventriloquizzing. The British band is still given to purring Krautrock rhythms, free-associative lyrics and dusky, deadpan funk. They're masters of economy, fleshing out terse bass and drums with delicately daubed guitars, dub effects and David Best's perennially hushed vocals. Whatever it lacks in innovation is more than made up for by the record's easygoing intimacy -- you might even say its livability. Four records on, what once felt like slacker shtick has become a winning strategy.
