Beautiful Alien
Atom Smash

The best thing about Atom Smash's debut was the many nods to classic rock tucked inside what was basically a post-grunge album. The band surely reached the same conclusion; the follow up, Beautiful Alien, boasts twice as many. The title track is Zeppelin-approved blues-metal with swaggering slide guitar. "Hangman" is an even more overt example. Front man Sergio Sanchez sounds as though he spent a lot of time studying howler Paul Rodgers of Free and Bad Company. None of these tunes are terribly original, yet the group obviously spent a goodly amount of time making sure they sound full-bodied.
