Late-period Sonic Youth favors pastoral loveliness over shrieking-feedback causticness, and this 2004 jam (with a rad Richard Prince cover) is a splendid example: Thurston Moore's "Unmade Bed" is astoundingly beautiful, and even Kim Gordon is at her sweetest and breathiest on "I Love You Golden Blue." Look out also for "Kim Gordon and the Arthur Doyle Hand Cream," an excellently unnerving open letter to, of all people, an at-the-time especially wayward Mariah Carey. ("How was your date with Eminem?") Closer "Peace Attack" is, in keeping with the theme, way more peace than attack.
