The iconic John Lydon returns with the first PiL record since 1992's That What Is Not. Two decades later This is PiL sees the erstwhile Johnny Rotten still delivering acerbic protestations against the hypocrisy of the world in his utterly distinctive mewl-yelp, which has mellowed some with age. Musically, the album is a welcome throwback to the warm sound of the days before Pro-Tools; the minimalist dub/reggae (think The Clash and The Slits) is befitting of such an elder statesman.
