Pretties For You
Alice Cooper
Released:
Aug 2005
Label:
Rhino/Warner Bros.
The Alice Cooper that created Pretties for You doesn't sound at all like the Alice Cooper that would go on to create such classic-rock staples as "I'm Eighteen" and "School's Out." Heavily inspired by their mentor Frank Zappa, as well as Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd, the band's 1969 debut is a freaky fusion of art rock and fuzzy garage-psych. Instead of pile-driver grooves and monolithic riffs, theatrical epics like "Fields of Regret" and "Apple Bush" boast intricate changes and surreal vibes.
