Cephalic Carnage's third album, originally released in 2002 (read: creative peak) but reissued here with one bonus track ("Puff de la Morte"), stomps around with a combination of endlessly crushing half-tempos and high-speed, alien time signatures/tempo shifts and hot-lick ribboning, all with horrendous wraith-pig vocals bubbling up from underneath. While most bands playing music this complex come off as boring number-freaks, Cephalic Carnage never lose touch with the fact that they are a rock band, and the songs, as whacked as they are, always breathe.
