Devo's early '80s mix of synth-pop and lean punk rock has once again become the stylistic rage and the band's early proclamations that humanity is getting dumber (or at least more complacent) is truer than ever. So, 2010 is a perfect time for the new wave vets to reform and remind everyone they did it first. The sound is right (even if the production is so clean it verges on sterile), but the songs lack the old anger. Only the ballad "No Place Like Home" has any topical punch, but without the biting Devo satire; oddly, the tune sounds like Oingo Boingo.
