Marked by the impeccably chosen and performed covers of The Blasters ("Long White Cadillac") and The Flying Burrito Brothers ("Sin City"), this first-hits compilation from the Kentucky-born country music maverick's early years is an excellent place for newcomers to start. Other covers positively nailed by Yoakam include Johnny Horton's "Honky Tonk Man" and "Streets of Bakersfield," a duet with Buck Owens. Beyond that, "Little Ways" always sounds good and Yoakam's distinctive Telecaster sound is all over the place.
