Moving further away from their hardcore roots, F*ck*d Up go punk on punk by crossing genre lines with a vengeance on their second full-length. Transforming bludgeoning beats and guitar thrashings into proggy, heavily melodic and spit-polished epics, the Toronto band questions the mysteries of life, death and god through Pink Eyes' Cookie Monster howls. The album opens with delicate flute and swirling reverb on "Son the Father" and swells with a confrontational intensity that takes experimental turns through celestial instrumentals, shoegazer fuzz and enchanting harmonies by the Vivian Girls.
