Green Day's sixth full-length release, 2000's Warning:, has them in Kinks worship mode, utilizing acoustic rhythm tracks and idiosyncratic arrangements. However, there is still no shaking off their East Bay punk roots, which they use as a springboard on tracks like hit "Minority," "Warning:" and the Replacements-inspired "Misery." Further proof that the band could do much more than three-chord punk, Warning: was a good primer for the band's future venture into more complex and conceptual pop.
