"Your attention is all I desire," Kat DeLuna sings early in on 9 Lives, and this inescapable mix of pre-fab club fare and overwrought balladry will hold your attention whether you want it to or not. But as predictable as it is, DeLuna's debut signals the cementing of R'n'B, pop, dancehall and -- perhaps for the first time -- Latin music. Bachata guitars trill over the charming "Am I Dreaming," and she boomerangs from English to Spanish without batting an accent. DeLuna's role as party-starter and post-breakup soft shoulder, however, translates no matter what the idiom.
