Kelly Willis

Classic Honky-Tonk-flavored Americana with angelic vocals and high-lonesome harmonies. This is what Country-Rock legend Gram Parsons would call "Cosmic American Music." Willis has worked with many contemporary Country-Rockers, like Gary Louris of the Jayhawks, and her husband, songwriter Bruce Robison. And she's performed songs by songwriters as varied as brooding Country Pop balladeer Steve Earle, the late Nick Drake, the Replacements' Paul Westerberg and Singer-Songwriter Paul Kelly. Beyond sheer good taste -- and genuine songwriting ability on her own part -- her music is rooted in honesty and candid glimpses of home life, all borne on Willis' velveteen voice.
