Volume 2
Miles Davis
Released:
Jul 2001
Label:
Blue Note Records
More hard bop-y than Vol. 1, this LP features Miles leading trombonist J.J. Johnson (a year from major stardom) and the Heath Brothers on bass and tenor. Davis's solos are first-rate, and his tone was really lovely doing this time -- check out how he stretches his lines on Johnson's ballad "Enigma." Sadly, these Capitol sides were big with musicians but not the public.
