Biography

At once nostalgic and timeless, Outragous Cherry's noisy Jangle Pop is every summer you spent driving around listening to Big Star's #1 Record and the Jesus & Mary Chain's Psychocandy. Thumping floor tom and snare loop continuously (a la Yo La Tengo's Georgia Hubley) as lilting, Byrds-ian guitars and Singer-Songwriter Matthew Smith's warm, California harmonies soar into the rafters. Reverb-heavy production and noisy, feedback-drenched guitar work a la Galaxie 500's Dean Wareham up the ante, creating in sum dangerously catchy, inspired songs. Both Smith and bassist Chad Gilchrist have logged hours in Warren Defever's camp, the latter actually assuming bass duties in Defever's band His Name Is Alive.
