Biography

Nova and Maya, the two halves of the newly massive Pacha Massive, met in New York in 2005 when they were both working on another project with a producer both knew. The Dominican-born Nova and Colombian-born Maya had lots in common, including a love of both traditional Latin music and electronica and hip-hop. The creative sparks started to fly, and it wasn't long before Maya's sultry voice was gracing Nova's genre-hopping productions. Against all odds, the duo won a spot opening for Aterciopelados at Madison Square Gardens, and in 2006 it vanquished the competition in a battle of the bands at the Latin Alternative Music Conference. Their fate was sealed. Nacional Records added Pacha Massive to their stable of groundbreaking electronic artists, and they released their debut, All Good Things, in 2007. Critics ate it up, thanks to its languid approach to everything from traditional Colombian music to hip-hop, as well as Maya's seductive vocals.
