Ruins

Ruins is a Japanese duo led by percussionist and vocalist Tatsuya Yoshida. Paired with only an accompanying bass player and vocalist, Ruins unlock infinite possibilities with two instruments and two voices. Essentially a Prog band using (minimal) rock instrumentation, they perform music with incomprehensible complexity. Emulating his hero Christian Vander, leader of the obscure French prog band Magma, Yoshida writes intricate orchestrations of instruments and voices that move as a solid formation, switching modes and time signatures in perfect unison, vaulting and dropping as a single unit. They execute these tight twists and turns with incredible dexterity and aggressive abandon. Ruins are unlike anything else on earth.
