Salako sound like a turned-down, happier Verve but they also delve into the smart, ever-British pop territory mined so well by songwriters like Ray Davies. Lilting pastoral numbers could be B-sides from XTC's Skylarking, assuming it had been recorded by those nutters at the Elephant 6 Indie Rock manufacturing plant. Simply put, the music is delightful.
