Hall & Oates went from being hip to being huge with their deft meld of sonic adventurousness, pop savvy, and mastery of soul, rock and new wave. The Bird & the Bee open this set with a number that lists the joys of discovering the Philly duo's songs, before going into eight interpretations of the group's biggest hits. Inara George isn't a vocal virtuoso like Daryl Hall, but her sweet, centered vocals cast new light on the familiar melodies. Greg Kurstin's electro arrangements pay tribute to the original versions while departing from them in ways that their heroes have to respect.
