Paul Weller has stated that he was so busy romancing future wife (and Style Council bandmate) Dee C. Lee that he didn't take much time to sit down and write songs for this album. That helps explain why "Waiting," "Angel" and "Right to Go" rank as some of the band's weakest material. That said, "Heavens Above," a politically charged jazz-funk workout, is a highlight, along with "Walking the Night" and the title track.
