Description
Swamp Pop is a gumbo of sounds rooted in the rich country, blues, and jazz sounds of Southern Louisana. Swamp Popsters from yesteryear (including the style's pioneer, Johnnie Allan) have influenced rock 'n' roll bands like hippie Cajun act Rufus Jagneaux and Creedence Clearwater Revival. The Swamp Pop sound has gotten some press lately, thanks to compilations on Indie labels like Arhoolie, and Rhino Records.
