NAPSTER UNVEILS FIRST IN A SERIES OF ORIGINAL MUSIC PRODUCTIONS ON AWARD-WINNING
DIGITAL SERVICE
Steve Lamacq to host exclusive Napster programmes with Miranda Sawyer and Keith Cameron -
first edition features Daniel Bedingfield and Estelle
LONDON - (June 27, 2005) - Napster UK, Ltd. a subsidiary of Napster, Inc. (Nasdaq: NAPS)
today began hosting the first in a series of original music productions - available free for
Napster members to download or stream at www.napster.co.uk. The inaugural Napster programme is
entitled ‘Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The MP3 Player' and is hosted by DJ Steve Lamacq with regular
contributors: author Miranda Sawyer and NME author Keith Cameron - in this first edition they
are joined by star guests Daniel Bedingfield and Estelle. Alongside Napster's growing music
library of over 1 million tracks, the new series of exclusive productions provides Napster
members with high quality conversation to download onto their PC or portable music player and
listen to at their leisure.
‘Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The MP3 Player', will give Napster members the chance to listen to
Lamacq and his guests debating some of the biggest issues in the UK's music scene, including
the commercialisation of music stars as brands and licensing franchises; the White Stripes
versus Coldplay album releases, the summer festival season and how urban music has become the
new pop. The programme was commissioned by Napster international programming director Jeff
Smith and produced by Mark Goodier for Wise Buddah.
"Alongside giving music fans the widest choice in how they listen to digital music - from a
la carte downloads to portable subscription - it's essential that Napster maintains and extends
its reputation for unparalleled content and programming," said Jeff Smith. "This new series of
productions is very much in line with our principles of empowering our members to listen to what
they want, when they want - and generating our own content in this way, harnessing the talents of
people like Steve Lamacq and Mark Goodier, further enriches the Napster experience."
"Napster revolutionises the way people listen; providing on-demand content to music fans for
downloading to computer or portable MP3 player," said Mark Goodier. "With a fascinating mix of
guests, from big name artists to respected music journalists and columnists, 'Don't Shoot Me...'
should have plenty to interest all music fans."
