I forgot my password. Can you help me?
To recover your Napster password:
1. Start Napster from your desktop to open the sign-in dialog.
2. Click the link just to the right of the phrase, "Can't remember your password?"
3. Type in your email address and click submit. You must use the same email address that Napster has
registered for your account.
4. Once we confirm your email address, we will send you an email with your member name and password.
I can't sign in. What should I do?
If you can't sign in to Napster you can still click the PLAY OFFLINE button on the sign-in page and
play music that you have purchased and downloaded.
Here are some things to consider if you are having trouble signing in:
• A browser security level set to High can not only prevent you from initially signing in but also cause
problems with utilizing Napster. Try lowering the security level to Medium.
• Make sure that any firewall that you are using is set to allow communication from the Napster domain.
If you have a hardware firewall, you will need to make sure that ports 80, 443, and 1755 are open.
• Double check the spelling of your member name and password. Remember that passwords are
case-sensitive. Verify that you do not have the Caps Lock key on, and try re-typing your password.
• If you've forgotten your password, use the link on the sign-in window to request your password.
• Make sure your Internet connection is working: Try using Internet Explorer to browse to another Web
site, and check your IE settings*.
• Some ad-blocking software, such as AdSubtract, PopUp Killer, or @Guard, may prevent you from
signing into Napster and using Help areas unless it is properly configured. Make sure your ad-blocking
software is configured to allow URLs from Napster's root: *.napster.com.
* To Check your Internet Explorer Settings:
1. Select Internet Options...from Internet Explorer's Tools drop-down menu.
2. Go to the Connections tab and verify that the information is correct.
3. If you use a proxy server, click the LAN Settings... button and make sure the proxy server address
is correct. If you are not using a proxy server, make sure this box is not selected. Consult your
Network Administrator if you are unsure.
4. Go to the Advanced Tab. Scroll down to the Security section and make sure the Use SSL 2.0 check
box is checked.

information about the Microsoft DRM, click here.
Is it possible to get viruses from Napster?
Napster does not use scripting languages that are capable of any viral activity on our Web pages. The only
programs we deliver to your PC are the Napster application itself and the other components that form the
installation. These programs are thoroughly checked for viruses before we generate the installation.
In addition, to make sure that no one hacks our installation and replaces it with one that contains a virus,
we have a certificate assigned to us by VeriSign that permits us to sign our installation files. We do this
with every installation we generate and you will see evidence of this when you start the install process.
All other data and information delivered by Napster is in such a format that it cannot carry viruses.
Will Napster work from behind a firewall?
Napster will work behind most firewalls. If you are having difficulties installing Napster, configuring your
Windows Media Player, or streaming or downloading tracks, we suggest that you temporarily disable your firewall
or lower the security settings to see if this resolves the issue.
